Biography

I started voice training at the age of 12 with a local tutor and then went on to train with one of the country’s top vocal coaches, Tona de Brett, who helped me to achieve around a four octave range. Around the same time I enrolled at a dance school and went on to achieve high grades in Latin American, Ballroom and Modern dance.

Around the early 90’s, after studying music at college I started participating in showcases/talent shows in and around the South-East of England in order to get exposure and experience. Whilst doing the circuit I was taken on by a couple of agencies and also joined a 5 piece function band.

After gaining 6 months worth of experience, I purchased my own PA and lighting equipment and started performing as a solo artist. At the same time I was doing studio work providing backing vocals for up and coming bands.

In 1994 I collaborated with a guy I’d met at a showcase to form a duo called 2-Funky. We took solo songs and turned them into something a little different by adding our own harmonies and adlibs. Shortly after showcasing our act, we were offered a contract on a cruise liner sailing around Egypt and Israel but due to commitments in the UK were unable to go. Instead we performed in a variety of venues around the UK but sadly after six short months my partner announced he was moving to Ireland and the distance meant the continuation of our act wasn’t feasible.

Since then to date I have performed as a solo artist, in a wide variety of venues (pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, house parties, weddings etc) and in 1998 I started working on a freelance basis for Haven Holidays in many of their parks along the South / South East coast of England. As it was such a success I was consequently offered a summer season at their largest family park in Hastings backed by their in house band.

In July 2002, after much nagging from friends and family, I submitted a tape to Stars In Their Eyes to perform as Kylie Minogue. I received a call shortly afterwards inviting me to an audition at Granada Television in Manchester. After which the final decision was to be made between two others and myself. Unfortunately, I was pipped at the post but consoled myself in the fact that out of thousands of entries, only 250 people were auditioned and out of that 250 there were 30 Kylies! So I figured making it to the last three was quite an achievement.

As a result of the audition, I now perform either as myself singing songs from the 60’s through to date or I do a ‘Kylie Tribute’, singing many of her top ten hits from the Stock, Aitken and Waterman era through to tracks from the Fever album.
